The aim of this course is to learn the fundamental principles of data recovery from Hard Disk Drives and to teach how to apply data recovery knowledge on data recovery cases.
Training includes:
Professional, risk-free hard drive diagnostics. Covering hardware solutions in data recovery. Deeper understanding of the complexity and underlying theory of Hard Disk Drives (these topics are not well understood by many, but are essential for understanding data recovery principles and for successfully solving complex data recovery cases). Leading data recovery tools and utilities are reviewed.

Data Recovery Training program will include the following topics:
1. Detecting a hard drive failure. Common symptoms.
2. Proper initial diagnostic procedure
3. HDD failures – Firmware/System Area
4. HDD failures – Electrical
5. HDD failures – Mechanical
6. Rebuilding Hard Drives Physically
7. Clean Room Policies and Proper Handling Procedures
8. Essential data recovery tools and data recovery utilities.
Hands-on Labs will include:
1. Repairing a Damaged Drive – Stuck head assembly
2. Repairing a Damaged Drive – Head Swap
4. Repairing a Damaged Drive – Spindle Motor Failure
5. Repairing a Damaged Drive – Hotswap
6. Identifying PCB Board Issues and Performing Board Swaps
7. PCB Board Matching Issues (SSHD PCB’s, Embedded ROM PCB’s)
8. Logical data recovery using Data Extractor. Working with different file systems. Raw recovery. Finding file signatures. Utilizing GREP search to find lost data in unallocated space.

- A physical unit of Data recovery hardware complex will be provided for the duration of the training session for personalized, hands-on experience.

14. Essential data recovery tools and software, including PC-3000 + Data Extractor utilities.
Hands on Labs will include:
1. Repairing a Damaged Drive – Stuck head assembly
2. Repairing a Damaged Drive – Head Swap
3. Repairing a Damaged Drive – Spindle Motor Failure
4. Repairing a Damaged Drive – HotSwap
5. Repairing a Damaged Drive – Platter Swap (theory only)
6. Identifying PCB Board Issues and Performing Board Swaps
7. PCB Board Matching Issues (SSHD PCB’s, Embedded ROM PCB’s)
8. Unlocking factory locked hard drives using PC3000 utility
9. Fixing “Slow Responding Problem” on 2.5” and 3.5” Western Digital Hard drive.
10. USB to SATA PCB conversion on Western Digital and Toshiba drive.
11. Using Data Extractor for work with encrypted volumes (BitLocket, FileVault, WD MyBook/MyPassport)
12. Logical data recovery using Data Extractor. Working with different file systems. Raw recovery.
